Note

Nino Rota's extraordinary jazz and orchestral music for some of the landmark films of early 1960s Italian cinema, including two films that Martin Scorsese considers to be amongst the five best ever made; Federico Fellini's broadly autobiographical and hilarious 8½, and Luchino Visconti's sumptuous Sicilian epic, Il Gattopardo (The Leopard).

Our presentation combines the original editions of these scores with that of Visconti's Rocco and his Brothers, and the Boccaccio 70 portmanteau, which featured episodes contributed by both Fellini and Visconti, master directors, who simultaneously (and with no little controversy) were at the time evolving from their respective original neo-realist roots.
